“The reach toward the stars is the most natural thing we do. Architecture has never been the arrangement of matter, but the orchestration of light through which consciousness makes a world.”
Architect, researcher and artist. I work with light: in houses, in space and in the darkroom.
I am an architect, and I came to research and art through architecture. I studied architecture first and geophysics after it, which taught me to read what lies beneath a surface. Later I studied astrophysics and space architecture. I hold a Master of Architecture.
I started drawing very early and have always noticed small details. Since then my work has turned around light. In the darkroom I make photograms without a camera or film. Under the microscope I photograph minerals in polarized light, and I project those images into rooms to see what a space becomes when it is made of the inside of a stone.
Most of what moves me comes from outside architecture: the universe and what happens in it, nature, music, painting and photography.
The same light guides my work in space architecture. I led the architecture of Helios Ark, a ship for interstellar travel, selected among the ten best designs of the Project Hyperion Challenge 2025 and presented at the International Astronautical Congress in Sydney. I am a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). I work with the Institute of Space Systems (IRS) at the University of Stuttgart, and collaborate on a few other space projects.
In 2022 I founded the atelier AD ASTRA, where I design houses, apartments and workplaces with their interiors.
